Beachy Cove Elementary is very proud of our efforts to protect our planet and to do our part to guarantee a sustainable future for generations to come. We have a dedicated committee of teachers and an Environmental Agency comprised of students from grades 1-6 who have embarked on many projects to help us achieve our goals. - We were very proud to celebrate the grand opening of our outdoor classroom in 2013.
- Our students are strongly encouraged to bring lunch orders in reusable bags to avoid the disposal of plastic baggies.
- We have a school-wide paper recycling program.
- We collect beverage container recyclables in our parking lot every Tuesday morning.
- We take part in many projects and events to spread the word!
- We have a vermicomposter in our school.
- One of our classes won the Ever Green Recycling contest to name its mascot, Eddie Ever Green! We won a recycling shed and a pizza party for that class!
- Our environmental coordinator, Madame Paula, was named one of MMSB's Waste Reduction Heroes!
- We had a commercial made of our initiatives. Check it out!
