Our school will be taking part in National Sweater Day on Thursday, February 5!
National Sweater Day is an annual event organized by World Wildlife Fund Canada. On National Sweater Day, WWF asks Canadians to turn down thermostats by two degrees Celsius at home, at school and at work to highlight the role that energy conservation plays in preventing climate change. Our school buildings will be a little chillier on February 5, so we are asking that all students wear or bring a sweater to school.
But wait! There's more!!
The teachers, support staff, student assistants, custodial staff, cafeteria staff and any other adult working in the building on that day are invited to compete in the ugly sweater contest. Participants will have their photo submitted to Twitter under the hash tag #uglybce2015 by 9:00 a.m. Feel free to follow that hash tag on February 5th and vote for the ugliest sweater! The picture with the most favorited tweets will win! Voting will take place until 2:00 p.m.. We would love to see pictures of our parent community at work with their sweaters on February 5th as well! Visit www.wwf.ca for more info. In the meantime, please help your child choose a warm, cozy sweater for February 5th!
We are looking forward to a cozy day in the classroom!
